A founding partner of the firm. Mr. Ryan practices in the area of civil litigation, including premises liability; construction law; auto and coverage disputes.  Mr. Ryan was lead attorney for high Self-Insured Retention clients, including Coca-Coca Bottling, Chase Manhattan Bank and The Brooklyn Navy Yard.  Mr. Ryan has been practicing in the insurance defense field for over 26 years with a track record of success in achieving both favorable settlements as well as jury verdicts.

Mr. Ryan received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Princeton University and his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University School of Law. Upon graduating from Princeton, Mr. Ryan received the B.F. Bunn Award for Academic and Athletic Excellence, an honor bestowed upon two graduating seniors. He was the Captain of the Varsity Basketball Team. He is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association; American Bar Association; New York State Bar Association; The Association of the Bar of the City of New York; New York County Lawyer’s Association; CLM- the Claims Litigation Management Alliance; Westchester County Bar Association; American Trial Lawyers Association; Professional Liability Underwriting Society; New York Claim Association; and The Defense Research Institute.
A founding partner of the firm.  Mr. Conlon’s areas of practice include complex construction litigation, insurance coverage, employment contract and commercial litigation, as well as insurance defense, from inception through trial. Mr. Conlon began his legal career representing various school districts in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess, Orange and Sullivan Counties, and represented a large supermarket chain in the Bronx and Westchester.  Mr. Conlon was also responsible for numerous complex construction cases, for various insurance carriers.  Mr. Conlon later joined a small boutique law firm in Manhattan where he specialized in catastrophic loss litigation, handling various complex product liability, malpractice and labor law matters from inception through trial in New York and nationally. 

Mr. Conlon received his Bachelor of Science degree in accounting from Villanova University and his Juris Doctorate from Brooklyn Law School.  Mr. Conlon is a former member of the International Brotherhood of Glaziers, Local 1087, and is a member of the New York State Trial Lawyers Association, the New York State Academy of Trial Lawyers, the American Trial Lawyers Association, the American Bar Association, the Association of the Bar of the City of New York, the Brehon Law Society and the Long Island City Lawyers Club.  He has served on the 2011 Independent Judicial Review Committee for the First Department for the purpose of vetting Supreme Court judicial candidates and currently sits on the Executive Board of the Emerald Isle Immigration Center.
A partner of the firm and an experienced trial attorney.   Ms. Malang handles all phases of the firm’s insurance defense cases, including general liability, auto, trucking, premises liability, construction, property damage,  and coverage disputes.

Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Malang served as an Assistant District Attorney for the State of New York in Kings County under District Attorney Charles J. Hynes.   Ms. Malang prosecuted felony and misdemeanor cases.  While at the District Attorney’s Office, she successfully prosecuted hundreds of domestic violence cases in one of the country’s most widely recognized specialized domestic violence bureaus.  Ms. Malang received her Juris Doctorate from Fordham University School of Law in 2000.   She served as the Symposium Editor of Fordham Law School’s prestigious Urban Law Journal from 1999-2000, and was responsible for the coordination and subsequent publication of the Volume 27 Book 5 symposium, “Forgiveness in the Law.”  Ms. Malang served as the Senior Director of Fordham’s Domestic Violence Advocacy Center from 1998-2000.  She served as a founding member of the 1999 New York Walks to End Domestic Violence committee.  Ms. Malang received her Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in all subjects, with a major in Government from Cornell University in 1997.

Ms. Malang was the recipient of The National Association of Insurance Women Award in 2000 for her academic achievement, contribution to the advancement of women in society, promotion of issues and concerns of women in the legal profession, and earning the respect of the law school community.  She served as President of the Fordham Urban Law Journal Alumni Association from 2007-2011 and currently serves as vice-president; is a member of the Fordham Law School Alumni Association; is a member of CLM- the Claims Litigation Management Alliance; New York Claim Association; and a member of the New York City Association of Insurance Women.   She served on the 2012 Independent Judicial Review Committee for the New York County Democratic Committee for the purpose of vetting Civil Court judicial candidates.

Ms. Malang is admitted in New York State Courts, the Southern and Eastern District of New York, and The Supreme Court of the United States.  Ms. Malang currently volunteers as a Small Claims Arbitrator in the New York City Civil Courts.
Paul M. Weidenbaum
An associate with the firm.   Mr. Weidenbaum is an experienced trial attorney in all phases of insurance defense work.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Weidenbaum was Senior Trial Counsel at Goetz Fitzpatrick, LLP. Mr. Weidenbaum has represented commercial clients primarily in the construction, wearing apparel, and real estate brokerage trades.  Mr. Weidenbaum has successfully achieved over thirty-five verdicts in personal injury and toxic tort litigation from 1991-present.  His wide variety of litigation experience includes automobile and premises liability cases, trucking, toxic torts, construction, antitrust and commercial practice.

Mr. Weidenbaum received his Juris Doctorate from Temple University School of Law in 1978.    He received his Bachelor of Arts degree with distinction in all subjects, with a major in English, and Minors in History and Political Science in 1975 from Brooklyn College.
Sharon Schweidel
An associate with the firm and an experienced trial attorney.  Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Schweidel was an associate in the litigation group at Herzfeld & Rubin, P.C.

Ms. Schweidel concentrates her practice in the defense of personal injury, labor law and products liability cases.  Her career has been focused on the litigation of complex matters in both state and federal courts.

Ms. Schweidel is a Special Master in New York County and sits as a Small Claims Court arbitrator.  Ms. Schweidel is also a mediator in the United State District Court, Southern District of New York. 

Ms. Schweidel is admitted in the Southern and Eastern District Courts of New York, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals and the District Court of New Jersey.  She is a graduate of the State University of New York, College at Buffalo where she participated in an exchange program for study at the University of Costa Rica.  Ms. Schweidel received her Juris Doctorate from New York Law School.
Kaitlin M. Rogan
An associate with the firm. Ms. Rogan focuses her practice on handling general liability cases involving personal injury and property damage claims. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Rogan was an associate at Wilson Elser Moskowitz Edelman & Dicker where she regularly defended insurance carriers, commercial transportation carriers, trucking companies, taxi and livery fleets and national restaurant chains. Ms. Rogan has enjoyed success in both state and appellate courts as well as arbitration forums.

Ms. Rogan was admitted to the New York Bar in 2009. She received her Juris Doctorate from Albany Law School in 2008. She served as article editor for the Government, Law and Policy Journal. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in Political Science and a minor in Women’s Studies in 2008 from Marist College.
Paul J. Wells
An associate of the firm specializing in insurance defense litigation, including the defense of premises liability, motor vehicle liability and construction accident cases.

Mr. Wells was born in Mt. Vernon, New York. He graduated, with honors, from Fordham University with a degree in Political Science.  He earned his Juris Doctorate from St. John’s University in 1997.   During law school he was a member of the Student Bar Association and Moot Court Program and also interned at the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office.  After law school, he joined a law firm specializing in high profile, large exposure cases.  Thereafter, he was employed as an associate handling insurance defense cases through trial.
Michael P. Coughlin
An associate with the firm.  Mr. Coughlin handles insurance defense cases, including premises liability, construction, motor vehicle and coverage disputes.  Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Coughlin interned with the City of New York in the Mayor’s Office of Contract Services.

Mr. Coughlin graduated, with honors, from the University of Delaware in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in both Management and Marketing.  He received his Juris Doctorate degree from Hofstra University in 2013.  He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.
